SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Mr Namah was instrumental in removing the Sandline mercenaries from PNG.  This was the catalyst to bringing about eventual peace and normalcy to the people of Bougainville.

He was the leader of landowners successfully bidding for the Amanab Block 5 & 6 FMA timber permit in the Sandaun Province and subsequently engaging a reputable investor for the project after obtaining the permit.

This project has set a significant landmark for logging projects in the country.  The investor for the first time agreed to increase benefits to landowners.  Royalties were increased from the current lowly K10 to K30 per cubic meter.  Premiums and levis by 200 %.

CONCLUSIONS

Mr Namah spent most of his early life and did most of his schooling in his Sandaun province.  Six years in Bewani and four years in Vanimo.  His people and his province are very close to his heart.

After 2 years at Sogeri National High School in the central province, he spent the next 10 years of his life as a military officer, serving the nation.  That is where he learnt to be a man of discipline and a man who would have to put his life down for his country, a true nationalist.

A man with a heart for his people and his country

His role in Sandline crisis, his fight for better benefits for his people and his eventual election into the 8th National Parliament exemplifies this character of Mr.  Belden Namah.

As the Minister for Forests and member of the National Executive Council, Mr. Namah is still very much committed to ensuring that his people and his country receive maximum benefits from his decisions.
